Anne & Gilbert - The Island Love Story
Poster Design by Joshua LapLap
Show: Anne & Gilbert - The Island Love Story
Date: Sunday April 14th, 2012
Time: 7.00pm
Venue: Tom Morrison Theatre, Fredericton High School
Tickets: $10.00
In January of 2012 we held auditions for our third production. This time we decided to purchase the rights of a musical rather than writing our own script.. It was decided that our third musical be "Anne and Gilbert The Island Love Story". It was a story that would appeal to our audience and offer opportunities for our talented fiddlers and dancers to showcase their skills. Anne of Green Gables is one of the most well know characters in Canadian Literature. This script allowed for the continuation of the story. Even more exciting the writers were Canadian.
On the website www.anneandgilbert.com, Cambell Webster and David Malahoff wrote, “Anne & Gilbert is an unusual Canadian theatre story. Since its launch in 2005 it has become the most successful and critically acclaimed new musical in Canada in recent memory.
With rave reviews in Variety, The Toronto Star, The Ottawa Citizen, and many other publications, it has accomplished in tiny Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province, what few other Canadian musicals have
achieved anywhere.
Its popularity in Canadian theatres is owing to a small army of enthusiasts, none more important than the three, gifted writers who started it all: Jeff Hochhauser, Bob Johnston and Nancy White. Their stage adaptation of L.M. Montgomery's classic novels has been brought to life by many excellent performers, directors and designers.”
